yellow background displayed over text

Binary package hint: evince

Hi,

the following PDF file (I will attach it later, when launchpad lets me do it) contains text that is highlighted with a yellow overstrike. Evince displays the yellow overstrike, but it completely hides the underlying text.

I doubt that this bug is in poppler since kpdf displays the file
correctly.

That's a poppler bug, /usr/lib/poppler/test-poppler-glib has the same bug. Does the version of kpdf you tried use poppler?

kpdf depends on libpoppler2:

I confirm it works with splash backend.

Why I still have the problem after 2 years after fix released? I always keep my Ubuntu and all softwares updated.
