This seems to be happening again if it was fixed previously. I'm getting exactly same crash with gnome-system-log in bug #148736.
I'm using up-to-date Gutsy, gtk+2.0 (2.12.0-1ubuntu3) and (gnome-utils 2.20.0.1-0ubuntu1).

Steps to reproduce:
1. cp /var/log/dmesg /tmp/dmesg
2. cp /var/log/dmesg /tmp/dmesg.1
3. open gnome-system-log and open /tmp/dmesg in the log view
4. change "Version" (to Archive 1) in combobox in lower right corner

The patch attached in upstream bug report fixes the issue.
Would this be possible for a SRU ?
