Bug Description

Currently, Inkscape is not available for Santali language. Santali is an constituionally recognized Indian language and is written using Devnagari and Ol-Chiki Script.

Hence it becomes important to have Inkscape in Santali language also. This will promote the use of Inkscape in India.

C-DAC, Pune, India is one of the organizations into Localization and promoting free and open source softwares in India. It wishes to contribute the translations of Inkscape for all Indian languages.

Hi Chandrakant Dhutadmal,

First thanks for the hard translation work on the official Indian languages!

I'm currently working on the Santali files, and they both show some errors that prevent them to work correctly:
* incorrect </ b> closing tag (should be </b>).
* translated HTML elements and attributes (<बिता़ हामाल=\"मोटा\" माराङ तेत्=\"खोन माराङ\"> instead of <span weight=\"bold\" size=\"larger\">).
* incorrect file encoding (should be UTF-8 *without BOM*).

I've already corrected the errors in the files, but it could be great if you could advise the translators team to be very careful with it for the next revisions.

FYI, the files will be named san@oltk and san@deva in the Inkscape po folder. Please tell me if the language and script codes are incorrect.

I'm going to work on some more languages before sending them to the trunk. I'll let you know when it's done so that you can translate the new strings added in 0.91 and 0.92.

Thanks again!

Correction: the code for Ol-Chiki is san@olck (not oltk).

Translation committed in the trunk revision 14274 (strings updated to match the latest development version).

The translation file can be selected from the UI using the application preferences, but the Windows installer files are not updated yet.

Hundreds of new strings were added or changed since 0.48, so don't hesitate to reuse the same report to update the translation (using the new file from the trunk, not the one attached to the report).

Congratulation to the Indian translators team for the hard work!

Correction (again). Since Ok-Chiki seems to be the official script for Santali, I'm going to use the "sat" code for it (and keep "sat@deva for Devnagari"). Don't hesitate to correct if I'm wrong.
