Bug Description

I have the following card:

06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 01)
Subsystem: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 55
 I/O ports at 2000 [size=256]
 Memory at f3200000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K]
Expansion ROM at f3700000 [disabled] [size=128K]
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 2
 Capabilities: [48] Vital Product Data
 Capabilities: [50] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/2 Maskable- 64bit+
Capabilities: [60] Express Endpoint, MSI 00
 Capabilities: [84] Vendor Specific Information: Len=4c <?>
 Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting

it's connected to another computer (under Windows).
when this computer powers up/wake up, link not estabilished (in ~ 30% cases).

I have this problem since ubuntu 10.04. Currently using 12.04 with kernel
3.8.0-35-generic #50~precise1-Ubuntu

Description: Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS
Release: 12.04

that is strange that my card is 8168, but driver 8169 is used.
lsmod |grep r816
r8169 68904 0

possibly similar issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/998200 - actually issue looks identical, except
me NIC is slightly different and except that issue appears to be fixed.

Joseph Salisbury (jsalisbury) wrote : Re: Disconnects in realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 NIC

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.13 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

vsespb, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

In the initial bug description I put a link to similar issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/998200
for a bit different NIC. Did you read it? Doesn't it look similar/duplicate?

Also, you put "Intel DP67BG" into ticket's title. Note that it's PICe NIC, not internal montherboard NIC.
