I had the same problem, there was an error on boot-up which I reported but I'm not sure it was related.

Same.
There is a '.mo' file instead of 'gst-plugins-ugly-1.0.mo' in /usr/share/locale/<all locales>/LC_MESSAGES/.

This is clearly a misbuild of *both* packages: /usr/share/locale/sl/LC_MESSAGES/.mo should not exist in either package. Logan, this looks like a bug that was introduced by your changes to use dh-autoreconf. Please fix this.

my guess is that whilst previously neither gettext nor autopoint were enabled for the package. But now gettext was, possibly generating this unpleasant .mo side effect.

I've got this problem as well today. Of course the affected package is older version(1.2.2-1ubuntu2) than "fix released" version(1.2.2-1ubuntu3), but as a workaround you can use the "dpkg --force-overwrite --install" command.
