Bug Description

on Linux razvan-laptop 3.8.0-27-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jul 9 00:17:05 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux (Ubuntu 13.04)
with qpdfview v0.3.7-2

- when making annotations I cannot save over the opened document, otherwise the document will be 0k in size. I don't know if this is a Poppler limitation rather than qpdfview.

- another little thing, kind of unrelated but anyway: when saving a copy of the file the opened path is $HOME/Documents rather than the path to the file, at least in connection to the annotations, I would imagine anyone would like their copy to be in the same directory as the original and not have to go to every time from the default $HOME/Documents path to there...

This would be my default pdf viewer if this things would get fixed. Happy coding :)

Hi,
the first part of this bug is duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/qpdfview/+bug/1133257 which was fixed in version 0.4.1. I did not backport the fix into ubuntu backports because the procedure seems very tedious for such a small program and an ubuntu version which is only supported for 9 months. There is a PPA with newer versions at https://launchpad.net/~b-eltzner/+archive/qpdfview

For the second point: I think, the save and load dialogues separately remember the last place to save or load a document. I agree that a behaviour for the save dialogue as you describe it seems reasonable. I pushed this request upstream: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qpdfview/+bug/1214430

I hope this helps.

Oh, sorry about that, I was just searching the open bugs... by bad. Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, I was searching for a PPA when I saw there is no update for Ubuntu
13.04. Thanks for that and for pushing the request.

Don't know if I'm missing something, but it seems in the version from your
PPA... you can't remove the annotations/highlights... oh sorry, I tried
only the highlighting not the text annotations, but anyway, those are the
ones that interest me :). Weird because in the other version you could...

This is indeed a bug. I reported it https://bugs.launchpad.net/qpdfview/+bug/1214526 and it is fixed in trunk. This means that version 0.4.5 will be fixed. If you cannot wait for the release of that version, you can use the PPA for daily builds https://code.launchpad.net/~adamreichold/+recipe/qpdfview-dailydeb . However, be aware that the packages from that PPA are pre-alpha quality. That means that any update might bring you a completely broken version.
