openoffice keeps crashing

Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

While working on a document, openoffice (writer) suddenly crashed.
When I wanted to launch it again, it proposed a recovery of the file, so I clicked on start recovery.
Once the recovery was finished, the window closed immediately without any input from me and openoffice didn't start.

I retried by clicking cancel this time. The OO main window came up and closed immediately thereafter.

I tried opening other documents, same problem, even after a system reboot.
The only thing I can do is launch OO directly without opening any document.
As soon as I open one, it crashes.

I have OO version 2.2.0.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. With which specific version of the openoffice.org package did you notice this issue? You can check using the command 'dpkg -l openoffice.org'. Additionally with which specific application in the OpenOffice.org suite did you notice this? Thanks in advance.

Sorry for replying so late. The mail got drowned in a lot of other mails
since I use this mailbox for mailing-lists. I sorted things out now. ^^'

Here's the result of the dpkg command:

>dpkg -l openoffice.org
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed
|/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err:
uppercase=bad)
||/ Name Version Description
+++-=============================-=============================-==========================================================================
ii openoffice.org 2.2.0-1ubuntu3
OpenOffice.org Office suite

The problem still exists.
The application I use is OO Writer.
I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling to see what it does.

No, even after complete removal through synaptic and renaming
~/.openoffice.org2 to something else, the problem persists after
reinstallation.
I can now open OO writer without it asking for any file recovery, but as
soon as I start typing a few letters in the new doc opened by default, it
crashes (OO window closes)... :(

Ok, the bug seems to already have been reported and is similar to the one
that crashes Firefox.
The crashes are caused by the spellchecker.

Here's the console output when launching oowriter through CLI:

me@my-laptop:~$ oowriter

Disabling the spellchecker has indeed solved the problem.
I hope this will be solved soon. :/
