Hi,

Could you follow this FAQ about reporting a bug ? Even you give a lot of
informations, I would like the part about MLT.
I'm thinking that following your MLT version, you should update them
following this FAQ : https://answers.launchpad.net/openshot/+faq/1861
Its could resolve your problem.
Thks.

Actually, I did provided information about mlt, dependencies.txt contains that info:
libmlt++3 0.8.0-4
libmlt-data 0.8.0-4
libmlt5 0.8.0-4

Then I installed latest MLT libs, but the bug is still here.
ii libmlt++3 0.8.8-0ubuntu0~sunab~quantal1 i386 MLT multimedia framework C++ wrapper (runtime)

ii python-mlt5 0.8.8-0ubuntu0~sunab~quantal1 i386 multimedia framework (python bindings)

BTW this is strange, FAQ says about libmlt4 while I have libmlt5.

Anyway, this is the requested info:

Sounds agree. I have the modification.

First tests. BTW you have my actual dependencies in the model of bug
report. :-)
I play the file in an existing project (from me). No problem.
I export fine.

Second test with a new projet in PAL according the informations of your
file.

Play and export without any issues.

Last test with your .osp project

Same result when I play and I export.

I must said that I don't know what tell you.
All is working fine for me.

I was able to reproduce it on a different machine with Ubuntu 12.04

First, I tried to install openshot from repositories.
It was openshot 1.4.0-1ubuntu1, and mlt:
$ dpkg -l |grep mlt
ii libmlt++3 0.7.6+git20120204-2 MLT multimedia framework C++ wrapper (runtime)
ii libmlt-data 0.7.6+git20120204-2 multimedia framework (data)
ii libmlt4 0.7.6+git20120204-2 multimedia framework (runtime)
ii python-mlt3 0.7.6+git20120204-2 multimedia framework (python bindings)

Then added MLT and openshot PPAs, now versions are:
$ dpkg -l |grep mlt
ii libmlt++3 0.8.8-0ubuntu0~sunab~precise1 MLT multimedia framework C++ wrapper (runtime)
ii libmlt-data 0.8.8-0ubuntu0~sunab~precise1 multimedia framework (data)
rc libmlt4 0.7.6+git20120204-2 multimedia framework (runtime)
ii libmlt5 0.8.8-0ubuntu0~sunab~precise1 multimedia framework (runtime)
ii python-mlt5 0.8.8-0ubuntu0~sunab~precise1 multimedia framework (python bindings)
$ dpkg -l |grep openshot
ii openshot 1.4.3-1 Create and edit videos and movies

And bug exists! I hear audio glitches again! What I did I just created a new project, then added my AVI file, cut it into 2 pieces, and then put second piece onto the second track and slightly overlapped 2 tracks. Then clicked Play - and audio glitches were here!

If it still doesn't help, will it help if I try to create a VirtualBox virtual machine, reproduce the issue, take a snapshot and place it somewhere?

You should try because, If my memory is still good, you are running
Openshot on usb key. To my mind, you should do a go on a virtualbox. You
don't use a LInux system in "hard" ?

Sorry for misunderstanding, I thought that question was about Ubuntu installation. Openshot was installed from Ubuntu repos, not from usb stick.

Anyway, I managed to solve the problem. It was because of melt/libmlt, I had the same issue in kdenlive.
melt was unable to correctly process "Audio: pcm_u8, 11024 Hz, 1 channels, u8, 88 kb/s" audio format.
I converted the sound stream for all videos it to "pcm_s16le, 22050 Hz, 1 channels, s16, 352 kb/s" and glitches are gone!
