I could obviously change the "UID_MIN" setting in /etc/login.defs but it seems to me that I should not change a setting that is used by 'useradd' for local accounts.

Is this a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-session/+bug/937539 ? Also, disheartening to see that it is still around in 13.04

Also experiencing this bug on 3.8.0-30-generic #44~precise1-Ubuntu only on users with home directory located on NFS,
local accounts unaffected
