after some plays I found that if I remove "week" numbers from the settings menius at least the clock is visible. I guess this should help to narrow down the problem.

In my case, it was solved by the following:
- Reinstall Ubutu 13.04
- Leave the location/ time zone as it is (do not change the time zone, leave as its default)
- Cotinue installation

When installation is completed, time zone or location can be changed. Hope this will also work for you.

Rgds.

I am not going to reinstall the whole syste just because of this small bug. I am hoping for a quick fix. It should not be a rocket-science, isn't it? Channging location or removing displaying week numbers does not helped at all.

This bug seems to be deeper in the system than just the indicator. Apart from the mentioned error, I get utf8 errors in most Gtk Python programs ("'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0xca in position 0: invalid continuation byte") and Nautilus reports "Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string passed to pango_layout_set_text()" for everything.

I am using English as language for the system (Menus and windows) and Spanish (Nicaragua) as regional format (dates, currency, etc).

Maybe this configuration is part of the cause to this bug?? because I dont see too many people being affected.

Thanks.

Judging from the comments and screenshots, this is an indicator-datetime bug rather than an indicator-session one.

By default, indicator-session doesn't have any text in its header.

affects: indicator-session (Ubuntu) → indicator-datetime (Ubuntu)
