Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.7 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Still getting error message from mainline kernel during checkbox hibernate_30_cycles test,
however 3.7 is not stuck when waking up like 3.2, please check 3.7_hibernate.log (same error message as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1076979)

If you tried to use rtcwake as below, it will stuck during wakeup, both on kernel 3.7 and 3.2.
$ sudo rtcwake -s 120 -m disk

but if you used following method it will skip rtcwake issue on 3.7, and 3.2 still stuck randomly:
$ sudo sh -c "echo 0 > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm"
$ sudo sh -c "echo `date '+%s' -d '+ 2 minutes'` > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm"
$ cat /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm
$ pm-hibernate #or pm-suspend

Can you try removing the ATI graphics card, connect the system to the onboard graphics and then try the S3 tests again? I have a feeling that the fgrlx driver for the video adapter is causing problems with S3.

It's been retested with graphic card unplugged, as result it does finished 30_cycles test with failure message, and random stuck does not appear.

Does removing the fglrx module as part of the pm-scripts help at all?

Yung, could you please test 11.10 to see if this bug is present there?

Thanks!

Daniel,

I've tried more than 5 times of suspend_30_cycles test on 11.10, this bug does not seem to happen.

Tried to boot into text mode and proceed S3 tests. Suspend/resume works no matter fglrx is installed or not. But with fglrx installed, although s3/resume works, display would be turned off after resume.

Running "fwts s3 --s3-multiple=30 --s3-min-delay=30 --s3-max-delay=30" with various combinations:

* 3.2.0-23 + precise xorg stack: works well
* 3.2.0-23 + precise xorg stack + fglrx 8.960-0ubuntu1.1: failed
* 3.2.0-23 + precise xorg stack + fglrx 8.881-0ubuntu4.1: unable to do the test, xorg got segmentation fault
* 3.5.0-34 + precise xorg stack: works well
* 3.5.0-34 + lts-quantal xorg stack: works well
* 3.5.0-34 + lts-quantal xorg stack + fglrx-experimental-12: failed

The radeon driver works better than fglrx on this system.

tried power-management/suspend_30_cycles on 12.04.2 with radeon connected to dvi and latest stable fwts 13.06.00
but still stuck randomly.

Yung Shen / Jesse Sung, as per http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/optiplex-7010 an update is available for your BIOS (A16). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.

Hey Christopher,

I will not able to upgrade the BIOS for the moment, so I will set this bug as a won't fix.
And in the future release, we should file a new bug for this, if the ACPI errors still there.
