I get this error trying to send anything from my Exchange MAPI connection, evolution 3.6.0 in Quantal (updated to latest updates 18th Oct)

The reported error was "Could not send message: WriteStream: MAPI error MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED (0x80004005) occurred".

Have wiped evolution completely /all settings and resetup - same problem.

Same here. After upgrading Ubuntu from 12.04 to 12.10 I lost possibility to send emails.
Todays upgrade packages evolution-data-server-dbg, evolution-data-server-common and evolution-data-server to version 3.6.0-0ubuntu3 didn't help, I assume its a problem with evolution-mapi package.

The bug description says "The bug is fixed in a newer version of evolution-mapi". This is incorrect.

A link is given (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=682449 , where the claim that the issue is fixed is made, only to be refuted further down in the comments if you keep reading).

As such, this bug is not fixed, there does not currently appear to be a work around, and the evolution team appear to be waving their hands and saying It's not us, because they use OpenChange to connect to exchange and the bug is apparently in OpenChange.

For me, at least, given that all my business emails have a signature that includes the corporate logo, it is no longer possible for me to send email at all (and frankly the vast majority of email these days is bigger than 1010 bytes or whatever the practical send limit is).

Does anyone have a pragmatic solution that will get Evolution 3.6 working?

Hi BartS.

Sorry you are right, that bug isn't fixed in a newer version, i can see that.

Right now I'm using exchange webmail, as the evolution-ews plugin has problems sending as well. :-(

Regarding webmail, chrome only support the webmail lite, so use firefox.

I really hope this bug or the evolution-ews is fixed soon.

Better still, on reading the gnome bug harder, it appears that the problem may be in Samba (somehow).

Description: Exchange support for the Evolution groupware suite
The Evolution MAPI provider adds support for Microsoft Exchange,
including Exchange 2007, to the Evolution groupware suite, using the
 proprietary MAPI protocol.
 .
Unlike the Exchange connector (in the evolution-exchange package), it
does not use Outlook Web Access and requires direct access to the

It appears that the evolution team have a preliminary patch for this bug here https://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=227351.

(As part of bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=682449).

What is the process for getting this released as an Ubuntu patch?
