Problem is that there was a bogus configuration element

workaround is to manually edit configuration file in .config/evolution/mail/sources

to find the problem file do

grep ^Email= *

And you'll find a file with a line saying

Email=

Change this file to add your actual sending email and the message will go away (and email will now send correctly)

I'm having the same issue and the fix is not working for me, probably because I'm a staunch Windows user and VERY new to unix/linux/Fedora.

Just installed Fedora 18 and connected up to my work's Exchange 2010 environment using EWS. I can receive all email but get the error here when trying to send. I am trying to perform the fix by JEJB. Here are the steps I'm taking:

Open Terminal
cd .config
cd evolution
cd sources (or mail\sources)
grep ^Email= *

Initially, the results showed a file named something like <email address hidden>

I gedit'd that file, found the email= line and added my work Exchange email address. Right after I save the file, and I do another grep command it shows the original file with the email= line WITH my email address, then also, I assume, a backup copy of the file with a '~' at the end.

Anyway, I go back into Evolution, and I still get the same error. How can I tell what exact config file it's using? Anybody else have any other ideas?

Thank you!

Michael R.

Just encountered the same problem. Fixed it by doing the following:

$ cd .config/evolution/
$ wcgrep Email
./<email address hidden>:28:Email=
$ vi ./<email address hidden> +28

Added my email address at line 28, saved changes, restarted evolution.

This is still a problem in Ubuntu 16.04:

Evolution: 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.1
evolution-ews: 3.18.5-1

The above mentioned "Email=" parameter in .config/evolution/sources/<>.source is populated with the correct email address.
