usually I wouldn't interfere, but the problem you have got seems strangely familiar to me. I once had this problem after a programm messed up the compiz settings. Try to look in the Compiz Settings dialog and look for the program switcher. It could be that the switcher settings are cleared. It could also be that the switcher settings in the Keyboard Dialogs is messed up (had this once in previous versions). This allways happend when turning on and off compiz in ubuntu.
