It is also easy to switch off the notifications:
Open terminal (ctrl+alt+t)
cd /usr/share/dbus-1/services
sudo mv org.xfce.xfce4-notifyd.Notifications.service org.xfce.xfce4-notifyd.Notifications.service.disable
