Commit 4b552bc9edfdc947862af225a0e2521edb5d37a0 is in mainline as of 3.19-rc1. Vivid will pick up this fix and it gets rebased to 3.19.

However, the patch was no cc'd to stable, so we need to submit and SRU request for Utopic and Trusty. A request should also be sent to stable for inclusion in the stable kernels.

I built a Utopic test kernel with a cherry-pick of 4b552bc. Can folks affected by this bug test this kernel and post back? It can be downloaded from:

If it fixes this bug, I'll submit the SRU requests and request for inclusion in upstream stable kernels.

Note that you will need to install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.
