I started seeing random freeze while resuming from sleep/hibernate on my 5 year old system after I switched to ATI open source drivers, since the Catalyst drivers are no longer supported for my hardware on trusty and precise. The open source driver claims to better or same as the Catalyst, but looks like this is not the case.
