Jaunty: Virtualbox guest source failed to compile i386

virtualbox-ose-guest-source fail to compile:

make[2]: *** No rule to make target `/var/lib/dkms/virtualbox-ose-guest/2.0.4/build/vboxvfs/r0drv/alloc-r0drv.o', needed by `/var/lib/dkms/virtualbox-ose-guest/2.0.4/build/vboxvfs/vboxvfs.o'. Stop.

If try install guest modules using virtualbox-ose-guest-utils, synaptic say's that package ubuntu-desktop will be removed.

$ uname -a
Linux ubuntu 2.6.28-3-generic #4-Ubuntu SMP Fri Dec 12 22:48:15 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

This has been fixed in 2.0.4-dfsg-0ubuntu3 for Ubuntu Jaunty (for more info see bug 278466).
Are you using that version already? (Please reopen in that case)

Sorry, this is probably another bug.. re-opening therefore.. what has been fixed in 2.0.4-dfsg-0ubuntu3 is another problem.

However, I cannot reproduce your problem (on 2.6.27; the 2.6.28 kernel does not work for me (bug 309205)).

The problem is there a missing syslink r0drv for module vboxvfs

/usr/src/virtualbox-ose-guest-2.0.4/vboxvfs/r0drv -> ../r0drv

after the link created i can compile without problems

Thank you for posting the solution.
I've started merging virtualbox-ose from Debian a few days ago and IIRC this should have been addressed already therein.
