As mentioned above, there are packages of gcc 4.9 available for recent Ubuntu releases. They can be installed pretty easily and work fine as far as I can tell from my initial tests.
It would be great if anyone of you Zorba experts could help to fix the issue. Otherwise, I probably have to drop the Zorba package from Fedora since I'm unable to track down the buggy code in a timely manner (Fedora 21 is to be released soon).
