I just noticed this as well on my EeePC 901 (Precise beta).

IMO, it can make some sense to scale the resolution of the touchpad with screen size. However, it does NOT make sense to change the ratio between the axes, unless perhaps the pixel aspect ratio of the display device(s) is nonsquare.
