The problem has now become systematic. I generally have nothing on screen. I sometimes get the panel, but never the WM.

FWIIW, I thought I might have screwed up somthing while trying to configure VNC, so I commented the whole .vnc/xstartup. Doesn't make any difference.

I'm clueless. Anything I could do to help debugging ?
