OK, I don't know if this will help or not, but as I stated in my last post,
I down loaded the Karmic Xubuntu 9.10 test version, and installed it on my
work PC, and it works just fine. Last night I downloaded it in the amd64
version for the computer I originally posted this bug report about, and it
also works just fine. I assume that either the bug was fixed, or that
somehow it doesn't exist in the newest version under testing. At any rate,
it works beautifully on both pc's , where as the 9.04 version did not work
on either of them. I am sorry I am not better versed in Linux to be able to
help more, but perhaps there is something that can be deduced from the
difference of the two ISOs.
