Strange. I only get that behaviour for un-whitelisted paths.
Are you using Snap or Flatpak? Are you using the distro version or a newer version via a PPA? I'm on Kubuntu 20.04, running Flatpak via the PPA referenced via from Flathub's setup instructions and I that updated versions of various components including the backend and GTK frontend for the portal host.
