Thanks for the additional information Danny. I tried again to reproduce it here and can't seem to get it to happen. I tried the original method of:

1. Open XBL Status
2. Minimize - works
3. Restore and connect
4. Immediately minimize
5. Notification bubbles appear fine
6. Restore - works

Am I missing a step here?
