I have done the same.. as I am using windows also... and use the windows loader to boot ubuntu.....

I had a ubuntu10.10 but after upgradation the things went worst... so I took a backup .. did a fresh install of 10.10 and then upgrade to 11.04... restore the backup... everything works fine for me.. :)
