@Doug, this is a different problem (this bug is specifically for wubi). Try creating a thread on ubuntuforums.org.
@Erick, I'm half inclined to agree about locking grub... but I think that's the whole point of the lupin overrides: so that grub acts differently on wubi installs. That's why I referred to that other bug in lupin that doesn't identify wubi installs on a partition other than the main windows partition. So I think they'll get to the point where grub updates are innocuous.
