The permanent fix to the grub problem for 10.04.1 installs on the same partition as windows is described here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=10180622&postcount=13

It's the same for 10.10 wubi installs to the same partition described in bug 653134.

This is a manual workaround that allows the system to automatically update grub.cfg as required, but without continually breaking. The real solution requires a change to grub-pc install hooks that are beyond the scope of my capabilities.
