Bug Description

Just installed karmic (so slow, if you have a netbook install intel 2.7.1 with EXA and greedy migration // END OT), but the window picker applet shows blurred icons for 24px panel and similar, it grabs the right icon size only at 32 and more.

Hey Cimi, can you attach a screenshot of the issue please?

This is due to the fact that icons need be scaled to fit the 24x24 panel. There are (generally) two icon sizes available, 32x32 and 16x16, so we scale the 32x32 down to 24x24 in an attempt to make it as good looking as possible. If you can make a list of some of the worst offending applications I can see about sending patches upstream to improve their window icons (by setting _NET_WM_ICON_NAME).

I am confirming this, but setting the importance to low as there is no realistic fix available right now, and certainly nothing that can be done for Karmic.

Every application looks ugly (works only gnome-terminal).
Could you provide a deb with the older window-picker-applet version? The one in jaunty...
Thanks

Could you please at least add an option to use the 16x16 icons (unscaled) as it was before? I had to install the jaunty version from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+package/window-picker-applet to have non-ugly icons. It works, but it lacks the new features like desaturation and double click on title.

Uhm, yeah I could add that option, but I dont really make those kinds of decisions. Can you tell me what icons exactly are problematic for you and even provide a screenshot of it?

Hi,
I bought a TV last week from a website:www.hkeles.com. I have
received the product. The quality is very good. They also sell
phones, motor, psp and so on. Because of the financial crisis, their
products are very cheap. by the way, they only sell new and original
products .If you need these products, you can have a look . I think
you will get many benefits.
Greetings!

I've added a collage of screenshots of the applet. The first row shows the old version, the other rows show the current version with different applications highlighted. My panel size is 24 px.

The terminal icon looks great, the others are ugly. Only the Firefox one is almost acceptable.

If you don't want to make the decision to add an option, maybe you could add a secret little gconf key nobody will notice :-)
