I have had a look at our memory usage with valgrind. After an initial memory spike ~250 MB when loading the game, the memory usage drops again and keeps pretty stable. When zooming out, animations start taking up a lot more memory, followed by the terrain program.

I'll investigate if we can save some memory here without sacrificing performance. If the fix gets too complicated, I'll postpone it until after Build 20.

@HH King thank you very much for reporting, this really helped us to improve things. For now, don't zoom out too much in long games if you have a big screen.
