I tested this with the latest nightly (8771) on my Mac. Japanese Fonts are rendered now. But there is a new problem that got introduced. The very last message gets repeated.

E.g.

1. First message typed: 犬
2. Second message typed: 猫

This gets displayed as follows:

First message: 犬
Second message:犬
Third message: 猫
