Same here under gentoo, using 1.7.1_beta2-r2. I believe that this has to be related with some power saving issues, as it works if the interface is in use all the time, but stops working after a while. If i disconnect and reconnect to the wireless network, ARPs are resolved properly again..
It is not driver related, as I have a second laptop using a different wlan chip which runs wicd as well, and it shows exactly the same behavior.
