We have noticed that saving the XLS and CSV and opening the CSV in Excel converts all character based numbers to be correctly interpreted as numeric.

This is faster than converting the columns to numeric one by one.

So - another option in resolving this bug is to export directly to CSV (which may be more useful anyway and then all other spreadsheet programs can open it).

Is funding needed to resolve this bug?
