I don't get the extra MIME boundary with the current revision. (There might have been a bug in recent updates before 1242).

The message in the postponed folder is multipart/mixed. But when it is sent using vm-continue-postponed-message, it is getting sent as text/plain. In your case, it got sent as multipart/mixed. I will leave it to you investigate that.
