I used the simple method: RSS in ps(1)
I also tested on linux:
GNU Emacs 22.3.1 (i386-redhat-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.14.7)
vm 8.0.12
It also leaked doing 'M-x vm, x' according to the RSS eyeball test.
And it seemed to be by larger amounts (like 8 MB per iteration, but I
suspect that difference is not useful info for this bug).
The 'C-x C-f, C-x C-k' test did not leak RSS on that version of emacs either.
