Hi Mark, I always felt that this kind of forcible expunge was a bad idea, but this is how vm-pine had been from the earliest revision in the version control.

Recall that this is called `vm-pine'. So the behaviour is expected to be the same what was in pine I suppose. Having never used pine myself, I can't say how it should work.

Incidentally, I haven't been getting the behavior you describe because there was an undefined function `frame-of-buffer' in Gnu Emacs. So, the entire expunging code was getting skipped. I am wondering how it worked for you.
