I'm running UTAH with:
$ run_utah_tests.py -m physical --name dx-autopilot-intel -i $ISO -b "console=ttyS0,115200n8" -p resources/preseed.cfg master.run
to redirect boot messages to a serial port.
The argument is not added to the boot command line, and I see it nowhere in UTAH debug logs
For example, the following log line doesn't show it:
2012-12-08 11:27:08,747 dx-autopilot-intel DEBUG: Running command: sudo cobbler distro edit --name=dx-autopilot-intel-i386 --kopts=automatic-ubiquity boot=casper keyboard-configuration/layoutcode=us noprompt root=/dev/nfs netboot=nfs nfsroot=10.97.4.1:/tmp/dx-autopilot-intel_mZrJDr
