I was able to run unity8-session snap on ubuntu-core in a vm However, I was not using the unity8-session snap from the edge channel but the silo this particular build https://launchpad.net/~unity-team/+snap/unity8-session-silo/+build/11182
it also takes well over 30 seconds for something to visually appear.
at a minimum, need to get the snap updated on the edge channel
for reference ubuntu-core snap versions were core 16.04.1 394 canonical - pc 16.04-0.8 9 canonical - pc-kernel 4.4.0-45-4 37 canonical -
