Evan Huus (eapache) wrote : When logging in with autohide, the launcher shouldn't hide until it's fully loaded

As per a recent thread on unity-design: log in to a profile with the launcher set to auto-hide. The current behaviour in this case has two problems:

1. Discoverability. The launcher loads hidden, so users may not know where to find it (especially if they're borrowing someone else's profile and don't know it's set to hidden in the first case).

2. Wiggle-animation. Every single icon on the launcher does the little wiggle-animation when it loads, which is standard because an icon has just appeared on a hidden launcher. This looks very odd and can probably be quite confusing as the entire left side of the screen wiggles and then disappears.

It would probably make sense to show the launcher when logging in, even when it is set to autohide. Once it is fully loaded then it should animate-hide using the standard animation.
