I noticed that some of the sentences in this bug report are not in English. If they were translated to English they would be accessible to more triagers. I've took the liberty of translating them for you. I've found the next related bugs:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/666588
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/686094

Anyone of them describes your problem? Please, tell us what you see when you boot up? Black screen?

Thanks

Is this still occurring in Natty alpha 2?

Oh, just in case you wonder, the same CD boots into Unity on two other computers I have tried it on.

I've had difficulty getting information - Natty will no longer boot into anything useable. I just get a black screen with an active cursor on the last two or three daily builds. I've booted the 10.10 live cd and here is the output from apport on compiz. Hope this helps.

I have this bug, and my graphics driver is Radeon.

I have GL_EXT_texture from pixmap in both "server glx extensions" and "client glx extensions", but not in "glx extensions".

GLX version is 1.4.
Xorg.0.log says direct rendering is enabled.

Some potentially relevant lines from Xorg.0.log:

Barry Drake and Brian Visel - you are both falling back to software rendering, instead of hardware accelerated rendering on your graphics cards. Barry - you seem to have SIS graphics - AFAIK this driver has not been getting much attention lately. Brian - there is no reason why your ATI Radeon X1200 shouldn't be able to use the r300 driver for hardware accelerated rendering - what actually do you see on the screen during and after bootup?

chmmr, nvidia requires the proprietary drivers to be loaded. Unity can't be run from the live cd for users with nvidia. If you install, you'll be able to use unity.

Ah, I was under the impression that the nouveau driver could run Unity. This should probably be explained more clearly in the release notes - I scoured them for exactly this info.

Ok, I've found out a bit.

Yes, for some reason my system is falling back to software rendering. Also, the problem of the shell not working only happens when using a secondary login (and by typing 'unity' in a terminal, it does bail appropriately and load Gnome panel and such). It looks like this is two separate bugs on my end (graphics reverting to software rendering, and shell not loading with secondary login), neither of which are *this* bug.

Obviously the driver reverting to software rendering isn't your problem, but I have a couple questions, in order that I might file the respective bugs correctly.

1) Is Unity supposed to work with software rendering?

2) Is the secondary login not working properly likely to be a Unity issue, or would this fall in someone else's domain? If so, where should I post the bug?

Thanks,
Brian

r300 is being phased out, I believe. My card works fine with the r300 drivers, but those are no longer present in the repositories, I think.

1) no, it will not
2) I'm not sure what you mean by a secondary login.

Chmmr, nouveau can run unity, but it requires libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental to be installed. Word of warning this segfaults on some cards, like newer macbooks. Installing that, then restarting X might work, not sure. Forgot about that, sorry.

this bug report was about user trying to start unity on system that does not have 3d drivers installed. Anyone else if unity does not start for you with the nvidia proprietary drivers installed please report new bug report. I am closing this bug.

Before you disappear entirely : after many hours of examining forums etc. I find that the drivers supplied with Natty are the ones at fault. The correct drivers are supplied with 10.04 and 10.10 .... Please - where do I go from here?

Barry, Unity have its own graphical requirements and if your system does not support them it won't work so you can install unity-2d which does not require hardware accelertation and select it from the login screen.
