I have 7.3.1+14.10.20141016-0ubuntu1 (unity-proposed and unity-backports enabled).

Unfortunately I did not succeed just restarting unity (without restarting Xorg):
env DISPLAY=0,0 unity --restart
Gives error output (I don't have it kcomplete) with "unknown job unity-panel-service". If it can be worked-around, how could it be it done?
