As your command installs all available lenses --ther're a ton of them--, I opened Synaptic and tried with reinstalling only the already installed ones.
- Reinstalling the existing unity-lens-* changed nothing.
- Looking at unity-scope-home showed this wasn't installed at all. Installing it also newly installed unity-scopes-master-default and after that, searching in the dash worked fine again.
Accordingly, the following command should be sufficient:
sudo apt-get install unity-scope-home
This makes me wonder wether it's perhaps just a missing dependency.
Excellent hint. Thank you, @Timo.
