It happens even with the nvidia drivers too. I don't think so its got to be with drivers because the other desktop environments work fine and don't seem to have any problems . I had this issue today morning too. The status menu to log out/shutdown wasn't even visible as it went towards the right on the screen and the unity dock couldn't un-hide itself again
