There is an enabled option " Access for less secure Applications" default is Disabled
I don't know why but Unity Mail is considered as less secure and will not work as long as you dont enable this feature.
The error message from unity is:
Unity-Mail: ERROR: Exception occured: b'[ALERT] Please log in via your web browser: http://support.google.com/mail/accounts/bin/answer.py?answer=78754 (Failure)'
Unity-Mail: CRITICAL: Invalid account data provided for connection #0; exiting
I think this is a bug, an unity mail should also check for mails with the option " Access for less secure Applications" disabled. |

I don't know why but Unity Mail notifications is considered as less secure and will not work as long as you dont enable this "unsafe" gmail feature.
