Music lens doesn't follow 'Default Applications'

Bug Description

The Music lens only opens music files with Rhythmbox; when the default application for music is set to VLC or Totem, this is ignored by the Music lens.

When an MP3 file is set to open by default with VLC, from the file's 'properties' window (which works as expected when launched from the file manager), the Music lens still insists on opening Rhythmbox. This is not expected behaviour.

This is in Ubuntu 12.04 using Unity 2D.

Thank you for your bug report, what is used when you double click on the same file in nautilus? That seems like a duplicate of bug #876897

When I open music files from Nautilus, or from the files lens, it follows the selected default applications and open in VLC. I've tested this with MP3, M4A and FLAC.

When I open a video file from the video lens, or from nautilus (or the files lens), it likewise follows the default applications and behaves as expected, in my case opening in VLC.

This is purely a problem with the music lens.

Oh, and the same problem occurs with Unity 3D, as should be expected.

For the last couple days, I've been trying to get audacious to work with the music lens, I have tried going into Settings > Details > Default Applications and setting the default player to Audacious, and i have also tried opening up Ubuntu Tweak and setting all the music file types to open with Audacious, neither things worked. I have tried uninstalling Rhythm Box and it suddenly starts working the way I'd expect it to, however once i log out and back in it no longer works due to the scope being gone. I've tried that exact same procedure with Clementine and the Clementine Scope and i got the same results yet again, it seems to me like music lens default application is set by the scope.

Anyways, I would be very happy to see this one fixed as it effects everyone that wants to use a media player other than Rhythmbox, Clementine, GMusicBrowser, or Guayadeque.

Thank you for your time.
