Hello,

I think i have a similar bug.
Ubuntu Studio 9.04 AMD 64 freeze when i run Update Manager or when i get content from internet with apt-get upgrade.

Fisrt, the migration from 8.10 has failed, in the end of installation before cleaning the system it deletes everything on my desktop (but not the wallpaper) and freeze.
After rebooting, a dpkg --configure -a freeze when getting content from the Internet (in console mode, in graphical mode screen was empty).

So i decided to reinstall 9.04.
Everything went ok, reboot, set my /home partition, got my desktop as in 8.10 BUT icons didn't display their names but "xxx.desktop" with a default icon, and double clicking on them display a message box with "Launcher marked as not safe". Even if i marked them safe or create a new one, they are not displayed as they must be and they're always marked as "Not safe".

But the most important bug is when i get content from internet updating my packages.
Screen and mouse freeze. It seems to be the internet connection manager which is bugging.

Config:
AMD 64 4200+
Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe, 2 GB RAM
Triple Boot Vista, Ubuntu Jaunty, Ubuntu Studio with /boot on a specified partition
Internet connection: wired on NVidia CK804 or Marvell (tested with the two, bugging)
