Bug Description

Showing '-1' is confusing to users. Instead don't show any value.

Hi Matt!

Thanks for the feedback. Since we're using a spinbox, we can not "not show any value". We could improve this somehow (can't think of a good and fast way ATM). I will assign the design team to this bug so we can have some help from them.

Thanks!

Why don't you just disable the spinbox?
It would also be boring to uncheck the limits temporarily and then get back from -1 to the value we frequently use.

Well, is very very tricky in the backend to do this, since syncdaemon will not allow you to enable/disable a single limit (either up or down), but only the 2 simultaneously (either both are off or both are on).

So, as a workaround for the original design, when the user decides to throttle a single limit, we enable throttling for all limits but set the not-throttled limit to a very high value.

Naty: Maybe the solution is to offer a single controller for both up and downstream rates and put it in natural language? The downside is that the text will need to be translated. But this is covered in bug #847233.

Matt,

I would love that solution (in fact is what we have in the GTK control panel), but when we first discussed it with the design team they requested this approach (back in May, at Budapest).

So, at this point, we're in a sort of UI freeze, and unless we have a serious usability bug, I'm not sure is a good idea to change UI elements and designs.

Thanks a lot for the effort you both are putting in this!
