Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I found several reports about the Ubuntu One client, but none with this specific error. The client crashes on startup with the error message:

Authorization Error

[Errno socket error] [Errno 0] _sql.c:32...error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0)

>Please include, if possible:
>1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu.

Ubuntu 9.10

>2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy packagename' or by checking in Synaptic.

1.0.2-0ubuntu2

>3) What you expected to happen
>4) What happened instead

I've already subscribed to Ubuntu One with my desktop computer. I'm trying to log in from my laptop, and so I'm expecting a webpage that lets me add the laptop to the list of computers. What happened instead: the above error message appeared (with only a "Close" button); the cloud icon appears in my tray; clicking on the cloud icon tells me that my files are up to date (but they're not; I've made changes to the Ubuntu One folder on the desktop.)

Hi Heath,

I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One is not working properly for you. Based on the error message you provided, it seems that you may be behind some sort of proxy server, is this correct? If so, Ubuntu One will not currently work behind a proxy server.

Thank you,

Joshua

Joshua,

Thanks for getting back to me -- I apologize for the delay in responding.

I can confirm that I receive this error when I am *not* behind a proxy server. (In fact, I have another computer that can connect successfully using the same connection.)

The 328 is the line number, I believe. On my computer, the line number is 326.

Heath & L. POUZENC,

It looks like like there maybe something preventing pycurl from working properly.

Do you have a custom version of pycurl built on your machine without SSL support?

Hi,

For me, this bug is following a fresh installation of Ubuntu 9.10 with
the desktop i386 ISO file. I don't have tweak anything about Python and
/ or cURL, just tried the UbuntuOne client and it crashed poorly. And a
complete system update at the date of my previous post don't change
anything.

Now, I use a custom sync system with rsync and unison on a dedicated
server...

I think, I can reproduce it in a few days (begeinning of next week for
example) and try to strace or tcpdump things, explain me what you want
exactly...

Thanks for your attention,
Regards,
Ludovic POUZENC

PS : sorry for my approximative english, I am a french.

Hi,

I've also encountered a similar error. However, I know that this is because my corporate firewall is blocking Ubuntu one. For e.g. when I click on System > Preferences > Ubuntu One > Manage Accounts, the browser opens up and displays the proxy page "You are not allowed access to this site".

What I would like to request, however, is that this condition is trapped and an appropriate error message shown. Currently the error message is cryptic (for non-developers) and refers to a line of source code.

I've attached a screenshot for reference.

Thanks.
