Bug Description

Bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+bug/451670 has not resolved my issue.
I purged all ubuntuone packages from synaptic and installed it using Installation Instruction on ubuntuone web page.
When I start UbuntuOne client on my PC nothing happens. It's status after launching is disconnect.
In addition, I can't add my PC to ubuntuone web page. There is no such link.
After I go to 'View the machines connected to this account' link all I see is 'You haven't added any computers or devices to your Ubuntu One account. To get started please visit the installation details.'

Which extra information should I post to resolve this trouble ?

Hi Vyacheslav, Can you try running the following command in a terminal session and let me know what it reports back: ubuntuone-client-applet Also, if you have any syncdaemon-exception.log or oauth-login.log files, can you attach those to this bug? Thank you, Joshua

Joshua,

when UO client starts no lines appear in console and the UO icon appears on the panel (status is disconnect).
As I understand there is no token on my PC. But how to add it ?

Hi Vyacheslav,

You are correct, there is no token on your PC. The way to add it is for the client to launch the web page, you add your computer, and then the client connects. Unfortunately, we've been having some server issues that I think are likely the cause of the error you're running into. We hope to have these resolved very soon (within hours). If you can try to launch the client again later and report back here, I'd like to see if you have different results.

Thank you for your patience and help in troubleshooting this problem!

Joshua

I removed UO client and UO-ppa-beta packages completely, but installed UO-ppa packages.
Then I checked updates and installed UO client.
I log in to the UO web page and then start UO client and I saw a message to add my pc.
I added my PC to web page and UO icon changes to connect status. It works! Thanks for great job!

But there is another problem. UO folder is empty and UO client says 'your files are up to date' even there are several files (including folders) on the web page. How to make to sync these files to my PC ?

Logs are attached.

Vyacheslav, the logfile you uploaded shows the client connecting to the server. Are you sure you aren't confusing the "Disconnect" action in the applet for its status? The status appears when you hover over the applet icon, or if you do
dbus-send --session --print-reply --dest=com.ubuntuone.SyncDaemon --type=method_call /status com.ubuntuone.SyncDaemon.Status.current_status
(in a single line)

jorgehpm, could you file a separate bug and do “apport-collect -p ubuntuone-client <the bug number>” (without the quotes, and replacing “<the bug number>” with the actual bug number you get)?

I am having the same problem. UO will not recognize my computer, and the files will not sync. Also UO does not see my Evolution Couch contacts. The problem is not syncing files. The problem is that UO will not connect to my computer. When I go to my UO homepage, and check accounts, it says "You haven't added any computers or devices to your Ubuntu One account." Your 'solution' says "The way to add it is for the client to launch the web page, you add your computer," but there is NO WAY to do this. There is no dialogue box to add the computer! I have tried all the recommendations, e.g. uninstalling and re-installing, getting the PPA packages, deleting the syncdaemon file in .config/ubuntuone folder, etc. Nothing works. Running Karmic. Everything up to date. I'm sure there is some way to make it work, but frankly, Ubuntu One should NEVER have been released in this state. It's like pre-Alpha software, and just adds fuel to the Ubuntu critics.

It looks as if there is no way for the server to produce the 'add computer' part of the screen. I have an account but no computer commected and no way to add a computer to my account.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu One better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu One since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on the most recent version of Ubuntu. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect 455967 and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
