One more clue. The syncdaemon process starts when ubuntu one starts but the process disappears after some seconds. ubuntu-sso-login.exe an ubuntuone-control-panel-qt.exe processes remain active.

I have also tried the idea of J.Vaquero but it did not work for me :( The new xdg directory appeard but with the same error message.

"Renamed the folder "C:\Users\<UserID>\AppData\Local\xdg" and started Ubuntu One from the shortcut. It started working. A nex folder is created in the same directory"
