Bug Description

In some corporate environments some users need to use different proxy servers to access internal servers and Internet servers. PAC files are used for this, but the Qt support for this is not complete.
Ubuntu One should support manually overriding the system proxy settings for these use cases, so appropiate config options and an UI to set them are needed.

Hello Alejandro,

thanks for opening this new bug for the problem I highlighted.

Can we set the bug's IMPORTANCE up to HIGH? It can probably help speeding up the fix deployment.

Let me know if you need me to give some explanation gustifying the higher priority.

BTW, I didn't find on the site any explanation related to each bug's Importance level resolution timing. In case I would really appreciate to read it.

Thanks a lot for support

Michele

Hi Michele,

the bugs importance is determined by this guide: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance

You may add more any more info here so we can re-evaluate the priority.
Thanks!

Hi,

I'm also affected: I tried to install Ubuntu One at work (on Ubuntu 12.04), contacted the Ubuntu One support who basically told me that it can not work in my environment:

"Unfortunately, Ubuntu One does not work properly behind auto proxy
configurations. That appears to be the reason why it's not working for
you since your proxy is set to be auto-configured by a server (via the
URL in the proxy settings)."

(my network proxy settings also use a PAC config file)

Let me know if I should provide more details.

About the bug importance level, I think that there might be a lot of users affected who don't report it here: having a dedicated support team is good, but I guess that most users who are given an answer like the one above don't go further.

Yeah, I have the issue with auto proxy configuration too.
I've enabled "Automatically detect settings" checkbox on Windows and expected that advertised proxy feature will work.
Actually Ubuntu One is not able to connect and there is no manual configuration option.
You just can't call it "proxy support" feature...
